1. Information We Do NOT Collect
Unlike conventional culinary platforms and recipe manager apps, RecipeMakerFree is engineered without user registration or account gating:
- No Names or Emails: You are never asked to register an account, sign in with Google or Facebook, or subscribe to an email newsletter.
- No Passwords or Credentials: We do not operate an authentication database.
- No Payment or Financial Data: RecipeMakerFree is 100% free; we do not collect credit card numbers, billing addresses, or bank details.
- No Cross-Site Tracking: We do not employ third-party advertising trackers, Facebook Pixels, or fingerprinting scripts.
2. How Recipe URL Extraction Works
When you enter an external recipe URL into our extractor:
- Our edge server initiates a standard server-side HTTP fetch request to the public URL you submitted.
- Our parser reads the publicly available Schema.org Recipe metadata or HTML content strictly to extract ingredients, method steps, preparation times, and author attribution.
- The structured recipe data is sent back directly to your browser for rendering.
We do not maintain a permanent historical log connecting your IP address with the recipe links you extract. Temporary operational server logs (used exclusively for rate limiting and server health monitoring) are automatically rotated and discarded.
3. Local-First Browser Storage (localStorage)
RecipeMakerFree utilizes your browser's standard localStorage API to provide offline-capable features:
- Saved Recipes & Cookbook: When you click "Save to Cookbook", the recipe title, ingredients, directions, and your personal notes are saved inside your device's browser.
- Custom Collections: Tags and categories you assign to recipes are stored locally.
- UI Preferences: Your selected theme (light or dark mode) and Pure Vegetarian toggle state are saved so your preferences persist between visits.
Your Data Stays on Your Device: This data never leaves your browser and is never uploaded to our servers or synced to any third party. You can delete all saved data at any time by clearing your browser cache or clicking the "Clear Cookbook" button in settings.
4. Cookies and Web Storage
RecipeMakerFree does not use third-party marketing, analytics, or behavioral advertising cookies. We do not participate in advertising ad exchanges or data broker networks.
5. Copyright & Source Attribution
Recipes remain the intellectual property and copyright of their original creators, authors, and publishing websites. RecipeMakerFree operates as a readability utility (similar to Safari Reader or browser reader mode) to format web text for accessibility, scaling, and printing.
We always preserve and display the original creator's name, publication, and direct outbound hyperlink to the source page.
6. International Privacy Rights (GDPR & CCPA)
Because RecipeMakerFree does not collect or retain personal identifiable information (PII), we do not maintain profiles, sell personal data, or share user metrics:
- Right of Access & Portability: All recipes you have saved can be exported as clean JSON or printed as PDF directly from your device at any time.
- Right of Erasure: You can purge all stored recipes, notes, and preferences instantly via your browser settings.
- Do Not Track (DNT) / GPC: We respect Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals and Do Not Track headers automatically, as we do not track visitors.
7. Children's Privacy
RecipeMakerFree is a general audience culinary tool and does not knowingly collect information from children under the age of 13.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may periodically update this policy if new browser features or architectural adjustments are introduced. Any revisions will be reflected on this page with an updated "Effective Date."
